ArtLEDge is currently looking into partnerships with larger institutions to offer courses to a wider audience, and also to reach non-traditional ethnically diverse students. The goal of this curriculum development is to reach learners that identify with art but are sometimes alienated by the typical institutional euro-centric approach.
In the new ArtLEDge model learners will benefit from being connected with artworks that speak to their contemporary social and cultural experiences; that are relevant to the issues pervading their current experiences and that feature artists from their own ethnic backgrounds.
I’m excited to be moving forward with potential opportunities to connect students with art that matters to them, keep your fingers crossed that this model will roll out soon!
